The Swiss National Museum is home to about a million objects of Swiss heritage. These objects are catalogued, restored and exhibited in collections, with the goal of preserving and making accessible the cultural heritage of Switzerland. Since 1989, the museum has been working a 4D object-based management system for its million items.

The Laboratoire Archéologie et Territoires belongs to a CNRS joint research unit (UMR CITERES) and to the Université François Rabelais de Tours.
